Event Postponed
HOWEVER, I will be doing an unofficial bike ride the same time the same date. This will just be a good way to get out, keep active whilst adhering to safe COVID-19 protocols. Leaving the Sustainability Centre at 10 am Sunday morning for a cruise around the island, no shop stop off or shared food for this occasion.
Wanna have a BBQ on the beach? Course you do! We all do! But not all BBQs mean prepacked sausages, buns, chips and dip… and a sea of packaging. Our jam-packed cycle tour is going to show you how to enjoy a carbon neutral, packaging-free picnic.
Meeting at the Sustainability Centre at 9:45am to check in ready for our 10am departure.
With stop-offs to a number of local businesses in Oneroa, Surfdale and Ostend to purchase our packaging-free goodies, the tour will finish up in Palm Beach where we will cook our goods, eat and enjoy a well deserved swim.
Bikes and Barbers will even be there to provide bike oil and cleaner REFILLS!
So hold on to any old/empty containers and bring them along to get refilled.
What to bring:
Your own bicycle (or get in touch with Bikes and Barbers/ Waiheke Bike Shop for rentals)
Helmet and bicycle lock
Water
Containers to put food in
Your own reusable spork, plate and cup (no single use products at this picnic)
Bike oil refill containers
Bike panniers/backpack
Money to buy food
The event will be purchasing some products and providing some yummy Love Food Hate Waste inspired snacks but come prepared to buy any extras you want to add to the feast… so long as they ain’t packaged!
This is an event brought to you by the beautiful collaboration of Cycle Action Waiheke and Love Food Hate Waste.
Let’s combat that packaging from all angles and relish in the good stuff Waiheke has to offer all on our two wheels!
So much information here you may have to read it thrice 😉 Get in touch with Carys on 022 697 4419 / carys@wrt.org.nz with any questions.
