It's a Wonderful Life

After a successful year thus far, firstly with Alan Bennett’s ‘Talking Heads’, followed by ‘The Diary Of Anne Frank’ directed by Simon Prast, Waiheke Theatre Company are delighted to bring you the stage adaptation of the 1940s iconic James Stewart movie, ‘It’s a Wonderful Life’.

The play is a heart-warming saga about George Bailey, the everyman from the small town of Bedford Falls, whose dreams of escape and adventure have been repeatedly quashed by the notion of family obligation and civic duty.
It is Christmas Eve, and George’s guardian angel Clarence descends to save him from despair and reminds him (by showing him what the world would have been like had he never been born) that his has indeed, been, after all, a wonderful life.

This is a charming family-focused Christmas story for everyone, young and old alike. In fact, the movie was voted ‘The best-loved Christmas movie of all time.

This sparkling and magical stage adaption is being directed by Stephanie Wilkin who last year directed the hugely successful ‘A Christmas Carol’ and in previous years plays including, Roald Dahl’s “The Witches’, ‘The Dresser’ and ‘The Vicar of Dibley’.

The play opens with a ‘Gala Opening night’ on Thursday 29th November; this is a red carpet affair including a complimentary drink on arrival.

The season runs over three weeks and closes on Saturday 15th December
