Vicar of Dibley – 4th Dec – 20th Dec
Waiheke Theatre Co presents Vicar of Dibley
This much-loved British comedy comes to Waiheke’s stage specially for Christmas with a superb local cast and with director Stephanie Wilkin (ex-Shortland Street) at the helm. A magnificent array of Waiheke comic talent brings the well-known TV show to life.
The village of Dibley is appalled when, shock-horror, a woman is appointed as vicar of the parish church.
Poking the borax at petty-minded small communities everywhere, this very British comedy unpicks themes of prejudice, love and (of course) the universal appeal of chocolate.
Stephanie Wilkin (AKA Shortland Street’s Meredith Fleming) has been lured out of her Island seclusion to direct in her home town of Oneroa. “I couldn’t have found a better cast if Dawn French herself had popped in to audition,” she confides. “Katharine Holgate is a delight: audiences will love her. We have some very experienced comedians on the Island who are enjoying the hell out of this iconic script.”
“It’s our last play of the year, and its going to be a cracker!” says Linda Savage (one of the producers) from Waiheke Theatre Company. This is the perfect show for the Christmas season, so book now as tickets are selling fast.
