Halloween Friday at the Artworks

Halloween Friday at the Artworks | Friday 31st Oct 7.30pm – Witching Hour

Waiheke’s rapidly expanding music scene prepares again to take over Artworks Theatre on Halloween night for a heady sonic excursion into rock ‘n roll excess. Alter Ego Productions, in conjunction with Los Dada Events mark the hallows eve of Samhain with one night only of epic, uncontrolled and degenerate rock ‘n roll badness. Three bands plus special guests, and the lick and a promise of a salacious evening on the dance of the dead. Get ready to celebrate the darkness in a haze of electricity, sweat and the veritable jams being kicked out!

Along for the ride are Auckland’s premier Stoner blues rock ‘n roll band These Automatic Changers (TAC). On the eve of their debut album release, TAC embarks on a aural road trip of 70’s-inspired satanic blues, chest thumping Neanderthal rock tone to swaggering proto-swing sneer straight from the archives and catalogues of any vintage and retro lover of rock music. The band is fronted by none other than Solomon Cole & Lee Catlin of The Solomon Cole Band.

The Hollowmen need little introduction given the success of their shows of late on the Island. Brendan Mooney and co-conspirators will bring the primal energy and punk rock blues tour de force they’ve been consistently delivering to the Theatre stage again. The release of their debut album also means the band are fired up and ready to bring punters more of what they’ve renowned for.

Ian Simpson has revamped and re-energised his solo work in the form of Sedan. Featuring the rhythmic precision and bombast of Manuel Kahura on drums and Malcolm McMoretone on bass, the band will be on form to deliver a set of dynamically engaging and powerfully structured songs that showcase the vocal prowess of Ian and the sonic ebb and harmonic flow for which he is locally so well known.
