Getting married?  Congratulations!!

If you’ve settled (or just tossing the idea around) on a Waiheke Wedding (love your taste!) you’ll be curious to get the inside word on Waiheke’s fabulous wedding planners.    Over the next few weeks, I’ll delve into a few areas where it might help to have some insider opinion.  But let’s start by getting someone to help plan your perfect day.

We have two to choose from (nice and easy).  With two very distinct personalities and expertise.

First up:  Waiheke Island Weddings and Events.

Jan Vernon is a friend of mine.  Who I’d recommend in a heart beat.  Totally oraganised, utterly professional.  I imagine having her at the helm would be like having a security blanket wrapped around you.  You’d have no stress.  It’d all be on time, to budget, everything when and where it ought to be.  She’s like that Jan.  Dependable to the nth.

As Jan says herself:  “I have first-hand experience of planning a wedding on Waiheke from afar – ten years ago, I got married on Waiheke Island while we were living in New York City and always wished I had a local wedding planner. After 13 years living overseas I returned to New Zealand on Waiheke with my family. I set up Waiheke Island Weddings and Events in 2007 based on my experience in project and event management in London. I feel privileged to support couples throughout the process of planning their wedding and I believe there is nowhere more beautiful than Waiheke Island to tie the knot.

Next up:  My Waiheke.

Sophia Hoadley is one of those people you instantly like.  Uber cool, totally stylish.  I imagine having her plan your wedding would be like having your best mate at your side.  But best of all, it would be the most beautiful affair you’ve ever set eyes on.  Like magazine beautiful.

Her website puts it poetically and accurately:  “One part planner. One part designer. One complete package when it comes to creating and coordinating events. Sophia is Waiheke based, and thinks nothing beats the sunrise on Oneroa beach, or sunset sipping a locally produced Syrah. Inspired by her clients who quickly become her friends, Sophia provides a background strongly anchored in event management, production design, hospitality, and lifestyle organisation for those desiring to celebrate the joys of life in rich, intentional, and beautiful ways.”

So there you have it.  We are blessed to have two top notch wedding planners.

All the best for your special day.  Please make suggestions in the comments if you’d like the inside word on anything else.  Wedding or otherwise.

I want to live in a world where Art is big, holidays are long, and forgiveness is taught in schools. I play every day with colour, my kids + my partner. I play to smile, to giggle, to take myself less seriously. I paint about commitment + the choices we make. Which really means I paint about making the world a better place. Which really means I paint about LOVE. The basic facts & figures: I’ve sold over 500 paintings, to people all around the world. I've been featured in magazines and newspapers in 4 different countries. I've been published in the infamous 'New Zealand's favourite Artists'. The NZ Embassy in Haymarket, London has my art on display.
