I want to live in a world where Art is big, holidays are long, and forgiveness is taught in schools. I play every day with colour, my kids + my partner. I play to smile, to giggle, to take myself less seriously. I paint about commitment + the choices we make. Which really means I paint about making the world a better place. Which really means I paint about LOVE. The basic facts & figures: I’ve sold over 500 paintings, to people all around the world. I've been featured in magazines and newspapers in 4 different countries. I've been published in the infamous 'New Zealand's favourite Artists'. The NZ Embassy in Haymarket, London has my art on display.

Photography workshop with Pete Rees

Remember Pete Rees?  Photographer, Artist, teacher extraordinaare?

Him & I got to talking about offering Photography Workshops, right here on beautiful Waiheke.  We asked a few people if they’d like to learn to take pictures with an artists eye (I mean check out his landscapes), use their camera masterfully & know the best software to use (and....

Image of the week

This image was taken at Gabriella Lewenz private home. Yes indeed, it’s amazing as it looks.  She is one of the Artists in the Waiheke Winter Arts Festival this weekend (Queens Birthday) on Waiheke where 35 artists open their doors to the public.  It’s the best weekend for art on the island hands down.

The weekend that....

Meet the maker: Pete Rees

Pete Rees doesn’t have a self-conscious cell in his body.

A few months ago I saw Pete at a party.   He’d had a jar or two, but that’s not the interesting bit.  He’d arrived two hours before the party was due to start.  Most of us at that point would scuttle off to embarrassed land.....

Meet the maker: Kiya Nancarrow

Truth be known, first time I met Kiya I was a touch scared.  She seemed so brisk + efficient + quite clearly knew the art world better than I did. Mix in a little professional awe (such powerful artwork) I got the jitters.  Wow, I thought, this woman is one serious player.

How wrong I was.  Oh, I....

Meet the maker: Katie Trinkle Legge

I’m not sure what I’d do without Katie.  You see, when she’s around, I can’t help but get over myself.  We artists are a funny bunch.  Ego’s, feelings, funny little patch protecting ways of being.  Put a few of us together on an island and all sorts of weird community snitchyness can start to fester.  Add....

Meet the maker: Anton Forde

True story.  A couple weeks back Anton Forde called me – to apologize.  It went something like:

Um, sorry I wasn’t exactly sociable the other day, I really am sorry I should have had better manners.

Here’s the thing.  A couple days earlier I’d rocked up all bustle + business to an exhibition drop-off, given Anton a....
