In 1988 the junior and senior teams combined to become Waiheke United AFC. Since the beginning the dedication of the clubs committee members and volunteers (players and parents) has seen the club thrive and grow to become one of the largest sports clubs on Waiheke Island.
Our grounds are located at the Onetangi Sports Park and our official club house for after match functions is at the Lazy Lounge (Cafe’) in Oneroa. Of course the club would find it difficult to continue without the ongoing support of our key sponsors Fullers and the Waiheke Marketplace.
Waiheke United First Kicks and Fun Football
The Junor Club recently introduced First Kicks and Fun Football, following New Zealand Soccer’s Whole of Football Plan. Game day run on Saturday mornings from 9:20am until approximately 11am during school terms 2 and 3. At the start of the 2011 season we are getting close to 50 children all bursting with energy to learn and play the wonderful game of football. Coaching caters to all levels of players in a safe, fun environment.
Waiheke United Junior Teams
Have just over 100 kids from age 9 (10th Grade) through to 16 (youth leagues). Competion is against other clubs around central Auckland, both home and away. The season typically begins around the first week of April and continues through to the end of August each year.
Senior Mens and Womens
We are proud of the continued development of womens football on the island. This season sees the club fielding a strong womens team in the AFF Womens Division 2 competition.
This year Waiheke has not been able to field a mens team for AFF open grade competition, however every Sunday at 3pm, Waiheke United has a link to a casual mens league. This begins the first weekend of May.
